It’s strange, but drawing like a little kid (as i had to do in this strip) was actually almost harder than doing a normal strip.. with adult art.

"The Dumbing Down of Love"

[Panel 1]

Rudiger, AKA “Rudy,” is a very simple creature
with very simple needs; food, sleep, and an
occasional cuddle. His poorly pronounced English
is evidence of his limited ability to understand
the world around him.

This is the way Rudy perceives love: (based on what Cadence has told him)

[Panel 2]

Rudy: Furst you find someone who is day dreamang.

Cadence: Dreamy, Rudy, you find someone you think is dreamy!

[Panel 3]

Rudy: Secoondly, yous hit them! (SO dey will notice you.)

Cadence: You hit ON them! not beat them senselessly!

[Panel 4]

Rudy: Turdyly, you play hide and go seeks.

Cadence: What!?! you mean, play hard to get?

[Panel 5]

Rudy: Ond finally, you give them yer heart and crush them.

Cadence: haha, your innocent misconstruction of love will be the death of me Rudy...and the rest of the human race.

I like the way you think, my friend. I love the idea of sitting back in some beach chairs, a few beers and good friends and you are all watching an orange sky of doom as you see mushroom clouds and fire out in the distance. All the while, you’re all just chuckling cos your buzzed and don’t give a damn. Also, it would be rather funny if this was all happening in Rudy’s mind, cos it would be drawn much like this strip. lol

haha, if you look closely at the “tags” under this comic, I wrote “kids on crack,” as one of them. It’s funny that you said “stick figures on crack” cos pretty much that’s what I was thinking when I drew this.

Rudy’s thoughts are the cutest things EVER. The way Cadence looks in the 3rd panel, I am dying laughing-I would so buy a print of just that panel!

I was considering figuring out how to make his explanation of love a print… but I wouldn’t know if it would be best to leave his text or put proper English. If i left his text I may as well just print it as is.

I know right? Well… I’ve pretty much learned that this is true from past experiences. It’s just fascinating that he could read between the lines when Cadence was talking to see the truth…especially since he’s never experienced it.

Eventually I plan to give every character a back story. I’ll consider doing his like this, now that you’ve mentioned it, that sounds like a really unique fun idea.
