At the moment, I’m not even sure which character to sympathize for.

Anyway, This strip took me a good part of the weekend for me to put together. I’m trying out some new techniques.. which may slow me down for a little bit, but overall I feel like the few I tried for this strip have made a big difference, especially in comparison to the ones so far (in this ‘chapter’). Scene Bean? Do I spot a Scout Crossing Reference?
It wasn’t intentional, but once I noticed it I just ran with it. Either way a Scene Bean is a “real” thing though; petite girl who dresses “scene.” That was my intended play on words, but it works well with the Scout reference too. :] haha
i knew he was going to regret not cleaning out his hair, if i was him i would have just said something like “stupid kids in a movie theatre”
i like her more and more, she will even do it in the open, oh god, i wish i knew a goth girl like that right now (did in the past, got too kinky for my taste)

yeai hope, i havent found any other grants or anything, i keep getting spam requests to take out loans with 129.36% interest(that is not a typo)
I keep forgetting to apply for that one grant you showed me. That seemed perfect! I noticed another artist I follow got granted that money recently actually. :] So I’m willing to give it a try anyway.
you could take preorders and see how many you have guarenteed, something like that, and when you get to the number of preorders or donations too
i was thinking about this, lets say the first 10 or 15 orders i could make hammerspace guys that the book could go into, a hammerspace slipcover perse(would have to know approximate book dimensions to make up one), since i have a basic patterns, and with the prototypes i learned what not to do (one that will never leave my house or get photoed, came out looking horrifying, pissed at myself for that one, that one deserves a big fail whale) but i got it down to a science and the next batch will be even better than the ones you are actually recieving
oh and just to say, since the last time i mailed something like this, the rates have gone up, just damn man, still happy to do them though, just got to figure a cheaper way to mail them, hmm… i could do them in bulk… i’ll figure it out

When I do it, there definitely will be some sort of pre-order… I’m just not sure if the best way to do it would be Kick-Starter or something else.
That Hammerspace slipcover idea is pretty freakin’ sweet of an idea man! It sounds hella time consuming though! the books are either gonna be 8x8in like Octopus Pie / Goats books or 8.5×8.5in like Girls With Slingshots books. I haven’t decided on that exactly yet. I’m trying to look around and see which size is the MORE standard of the two, so that my books will line up nicely with other artists books. I’m really in to uniformity…. indie comic books are NEVER uniform though. :/
Either way, If this is an idea I end up wanting pursue later, I’ll find a way to reimburse you for it. :] Not sure how… since I’m broke.. But I’d find some way.
idk how to get the ball rolling on this i wish i did, i will look around for ways(been busy havent been surfing the interweb lately) but i do think Kick-Starter might be a good way, i am looking around for other ways
i get you on wanting the uniformity, i have a little ocd with books and other things, even the lines on websites sometime screw with my mind, once you decide on the approximate size i can make one to send you to get your thoughts and critiques on it
well, i havent been working too much on the hammerspace guys because the cold here screws with the arthritis in a couple of my knuckles, once i get started though doesnt hurt much, but if i cut out all the guys(havent cut out more than two) with all the supplies i could probly make about 15-17 of them at that size with the amount of materials i have, but with them cut out it takes about 2-3 hours from start to finish, the shoes alone take half an hour, but if i can borrow my mothers sewing machine(and have her teach me to use it) it would only take about an hour apiece
as for reimbursement, whatever you can do when we get to that point is fine, but i have done the math and with supplies it comes out to about $1.50 apiece to make, keep in mind the ones you are getting are rough prototypes, experimenting with designs, if and when i use the sewing machine it will be a hell of alot better looking and not as rough(to me at least the first ones are rough, idk if im being overcritical of them or not)
I though of an idea… sort of a pre-pre-order thing. I’m gonna get started on it tonight.. and once i get enough of it finished and feel confident I can do it… I’ll make some sort of announcement about.
Oh god.. the arms and the hands/shoes on the Hammerspace Plush I made (and sold a while back) took me for freakin’ ever… my back was killing my by the time I finished it. I think it was sometime after that that I realized I HATE sewing. haha.
If you and I decided to do something with these plushy things.. I have fabric tags of my art company I’ve made. I should send you some of them to sew onto the back or something. Then they’d be “official” or something. haha. I’m anxious to see the prototypes! It’s crazy you’ve even gone through the effort you have! You crazy mo fo you.

I hate it when I make mistakes like that. I know the differences very well; I always see them when I read them, but for some reason, my hands just have a mind of their own.
Yeah, i do that constantly. For instance I will be thinking a word ahead sometimes and my hand will type the words I’m just thinking of… not the ones that my hands SHOULD be typing. Hands fail at life.

It’s the worst… especially if you are on a deadline. :/ That’s probably my least favorite part about doing a webcomic. Getting things up on time, while still providing quality content; it gets tiring sometimes.
I have a theory. And that theory is that the thing on this girl’s head is actually some sort of body snatcher, head crab thing.
Also, I just realized, if that is true, this girl probably has a hole in the back of her head. That makes her a bit less attractive.
Now that I think about it, that makes me very shallow, doesn’t it?
Or maybe it’s just a relative of hammerspace.

It could just be a small hole, just big enough for the bodysnatcher’s … thing to get through. But a hole is a hole, and if it gave access to her brain, I think that’d creep me out too much.
