So. Many. Closeups.
…is. That. A. Bad. Thing?
Not if you want to limit your storytelling abilities.
Well firstly… Reeder Rabbit is small.. So i have to zoom into him for this strip because I’d loose detail if I zoomed out.the whole point of this strip is to look at his face, because he’s undead at the moment. Secondly, this was actually a double strip originally. Meaning, this is only the first half of that strip. I decided to cut it in half because it was humorous that the halfway point, meaning it worked as a single.. didn’t need the double. The second half of this strip is actually zoomed out a bit more.
Honestly, I don’t see how I’m limiting my story telling abilities with this strip in particular. I made the conscious choice to have it as close as i did in stark contrast to being so zoomed out in the first two panels. I could see if this whole comic front to back was close up the WHOLE time.. then yes, that’s lazy and I’d be limiting myself. That’s just my opinion on the matter… but thank you for saying that, cos in future strips I will have that in the back of my mind, and will take that into consideration. Either way, ultimately I will make the choice is close ups improve or destroy the joke.

Well that’s a mighty thoughtful response, Joenis, my apologies for taking so long to respond. I was making that statement based not only from this strip, but those prior as well. It’s just a little disorienting sometimes when you can’t see the environment clearly. In most films it’s an important thing to have a long establishing shot for example to give the audience a clear idea of where they are. You’re certainly entitled to do your work any way you want, but it’s just some food for thought, I’m sorry if it came off curtly before.

LMAO, NOSE! Well I’ve taken what you said into consideration, i realized that I was being too zoomed in with the prior strip, for example the crow shots.. partly from laziness and partly from not wanting/enjoying to draw his whole body. I kind of got stand offish in response to this particular strip because it wasn’t as zoomed in as the crow arch, and to be honest, sir, your response was rather snarky and off putting. Either way, if you move forward through the archive, I hope you can see I’ve been working to zoom out more on things; so I appreciate your comment, I enjoy critiques just as much, if not more than, praise. So thanks, and I hope you are enjoying the comic. :]
