I only recently learned of the “fourth wall,” via my friends John and Ty. We were talking comics one day and it came up. It was an interesting concept to learn about. A few day’s after we had that talk I started noticing it showing up in more and more comics, for instance, this new comic I found called Crazy Sunshine recently did a joke about the Fourth Wall as well. I don’t know, since the moment arose when I could give it a shot in the comic, I just went for it. Reeder in the last panel thinks it was a stupid joke. (it may be hard to tell.. but the Pop Villain IS looking at you!

Kudos to breaking the fourth wall in an effort to point out not breaking the fourth wall. For a character to be aware of the fourth wall and the attempt to break it, would they not have to first have to be aware of the fourth wall? Characters can’t be aware of the fourth wall without breaking the fourth wall!

Being that she’s a performer, I’m sure she was aware of it, where as I didn’t ever want to have another character “break that wall” because I want it to be more like the Truman show for them. The original was… alright. Very well done throughout the show, but the last episode made it fall flat on its face. Better to get the re-release (so I’ve heard, anyway. I’ve yet to see it myself).
“Made it fall flat on its face”? As in it was terrible? That’s a shame, if so. I HATE when the endings of shows/comics/movies are underwelming.
David isn’t kidding, the final episode was a gigantic piece of crap that made me sour on the second half of the series. The new series is called Hellsing Ultimate, and so far it seems to be getting some pretty good reviews, and the fans like it as well. I’m going to have to just netflix it and see.
I’m probably biased as a former manga dork who loves the monstrous versions of vampires versus the garbage of drama, dark romance, angst spewing jackasses who also just happen to be vampires. Come on Hollywood, when are we getting a 13 Bullets movie?
Hellsing (the first one) kind of went off on it’s own when it caught up with the manga and it did not end good. Hellsing Ultimate, however, has – as far as I know – stayed more true to the story of the manga.
When I finally get a chance, I’ll have to check it out then. :]

Good or bad depends on your taste. I haven’t checked out the newer anime version of Hellsing, but I really liked the manga while not liking the second half of the older anime. But if you can get into nazi vampires, hand guns that could be used to kill rhinos, and some other balls to the wall crazy scenes, you might like it.

Some can use a funnel looking deal so they can pee standing up, and some have practiced enough to be able to do it without one.
